Dear Sir or Madam,

I am very interested in the positions of semiconductor device engineer, process engineer, or microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) engineer. I am convinced that my coursework and research in semiconductor manufacturing at both University of Illinois and University of Minnesota has made me uniquely qualified for these positions.

The University of Illinois is one of the few schools which offer a semiconductor fabrication lab for undergraduate students, of which I was able to take full advantage to learn the basics of the field. This basic knowledge was deepened and broadened at University of Minnesota by more advanced courses. With regards to these positions, the knowledge I gained in my device physics, microfabrication, thin films, and MEMS courses will prove invaluable. I have also gained considerable experience in clean rooms during my master's degree research on fabricating a peristaltic micropump, which has since culminated in a publication. The skills both in semiconductor fabrication and in working with colleagues during my research should prove to be a great asset to your company.

Further coursework and research that makes me well suited for this position can be seen in my enclosed resume. I am very excited about the possibility of working these areas and look forward to hearing from you to discuss employment opportunities. Please contact me at the above address, phone number, or email address. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Eleanor M. Kwong
